Kids and Teens Showcase

The Kids and Teens Showcase this year brings several new features in terms of themes, producing countries, and languages. In addition to the two traditional programs aimed at children aged 6 and up and one dedicated to teenagers aged 10 and up, the Showcase adds a fourth program of animations produced in Eastern Europe, in partnership with the Animation Film Network, a network that promotes animation festivals and productions from all corners of the world. This program is dedicated to children aged 4 and up.

Activities for children have also been scheduled during the Festival that go beyond film screenings. Students from the Philo Gonçalves dos Santos Municipal Elementary School (EMEF), who participated in the production of films at the Kinoforum Audiovisual Production Workshops, will get a close look at the facilities of the Brazilian Cinematheque, headquarters of the Festival, with a technical visit to the laboratories and archives of the most important preservation center of Brazilian cinema.

All children are invited to the Storytelling and Chat “From Book to Cinema,” highlighting the book Uma menina, um rio (A Girl, a River), which was adapted to a short film of the same title and is part of the Kids 1 Program.

The author of the book, Lucio Goldfarb, and the director of the short film, Renata Martins Alvarez, will tell the story of the book to the children and talk about the themes addressed by the work, its audiovisual version, and the process of adapting the book for film. Just show up to participate.
