Unlimited Showcase
Since 2019, Kinoforum has given experimental and avant-garde cinema a prominent place, enabling and instigating a provocative dialogue between films that take narrative and aesthetic risks. This space is the Unlimited Showcase, named after the inspiration evoked by the first experimental film made in Brazil - Mário Peixoto’s 1931 masterpiece, Limite.
The Chronophagy program explores different notions of narrative time through reconstructions, projections, and sophisticated temporal simulacra.
Tropical Path brings together short films that connect sensuality and sensoriality through elements such as nature and pop culture.
The Places of Memory program, inspired by a collection of texts directed by historian Pierre Nora, features narratives that connect physical spaces and their role in the construction and preservation of collective memory.
Several films in this showcase have been screened at important events in cinema, visual arts, and digital media; others are debuting their careers at the São Paulo International Short Film Festival, in this space that prioritizes bold and unusual aesthetic initiatives.
