International Program

The International Showcase brings together films from very different backgrounds and perspectives, offering a great opening to other cultures.

This selection reflects both a professional and dedicated viewing committee and the trends of the short films submitted this year.

We live in unstable times — marked by conflicts, climate crisis, and the resurgence of prejudices we thought we had overcome — which creates anxiety about an uncertain future. Still, the global scenario brings good news: film schools are multiplying and strengthening the production of short films, which are gaining in geographical and social diversity.

The circulation of works and artists, driven by the performance of festivals, has visible effects. Exchanges and co-productions broaden artistic horizons and create new connections.

So, how is global short film production doing? Our selection attempts to answer this question, bringing together works chosen by 15 film professionals, with the support of eight volunteer students.

The 53 short films come from 35 countries. We organized these films in our own way — sometimes pulling a thread and seeing where it would take us. That’s how we tell stories: through others, reinterpreting what is happening today in short film.
